Privacy policy

MyKaraoke is a social karaoke service: you sing, you publish your cover, you compare scores. This page states exactly what data that involves, why, and how to remove it.

What we collect

• Your account: email address, display name, hashed password (or your Google or Apple identifier if you use “Continue with Google” or “Sign in with Apple” — we never see your Google or Apple password), and any profile pictures you upload.
• What you create: your singing recordings — and, if you turn the camera on, the video of your performance —, captions, comments, private messages, likes, follows, favourites and scores. The camera only turns on when you do it, never by itself.
• Live rooms: chat messages. The VOICE in a live room passes through the server to be relayed to listeners; it is not recorded.
• Technical: server logs (IP address, time, requested page), kept for security and troubleshooting.

Why

• To run the service: no account, no wall; no recording, no cover to play.
• To email you when needed: address verification, password reset.
• To protect the service from abuse and automated accounts.

What we do not do

• We do not sell any data, to anyone.
• We do not show targeted advertising.
• We do not use your recordings to train models.

Who else sees anything

• Google, if you choose Google sign-in (identity) and for audience measurement on the public website (public pages only).
• The hosting provider, which technically stores the data.
• Nobody else: no data broker, no ad network.

What is public

• A published cover, your display name, picture and scores are visible to other members — that is the point of the service. Private messages are not.
• Catalog pages are public and indexed by search engines; profiles and covers are not.

How long

• As long as your account exists. A story disappears by itself after 24 hours. Technical logs are kept for a few months at most.
• When the account is deleted, everything is erased — database rows AND audio files — with no trash bin and no grace period.

Your rights

• Access your data, correct it (from your settings), erase it (see the “delete your account” page), or object to processing.

Children

• The service is not intended for children under 13. An account reported as a child's account is deleted.
